What happened today?

Um,  how did I miss this?  He's got a kid with Trisomy 18?  Um, last I checked median survival time of a kid with trisomy 18 is 14.5 days.

Thinking about it, the thing that gets me is that kids who *do* survive do so because of miraculous, continuous, specialized intervention that occurs precisely because they have been diagnosed in-utero. . . So his plan of NOT performing the tests that had served to keep his baby alive...... ????

You heard his argument, right? Everyone getting those tests for abnormalities while pregnant is rushing out to get abortions when they hear something might be wrong.

Yeah, which is TOTALLY opposite of what his message should be. It should be: Test early, test thoroughly, so support for the life-to-be can be ready. Esp. when there's in-utero treatments that can improve the odds. I'm totally boggled.
