Random pictures from August 26, 2013.

Started the morning with a little microscopy.  We picked this up on Sunday at a garage sale for $5.  It needed a light source, so bought a clip-on booklight at the dollar store.  We spent lots of time looking at whatever little particle we could find - onion skin, paintbrush hair, cheek scraping, quarters.  Total score.

Then onto Costco for lunch.  Hotdogs (Robin eats the entire foot-long by herself) and pizza.

Then met up with some cousins for picnic and bike riding in the park.  There may have been daisy-chain making too.

And I made this in-between - a felt tooth fairy pillow.  I didn't use a pattern, nor have I embroidered before so it's a little crooked and lumpy.  But it'll do the trick.  We don't have a tooth loss yet, but the time is coming close... thought it best to be prepared.

Feast or famine

It seems, in the world of blogging it's either too much stuff to post or nothing at all.  Hence the backfill. Not so much stuff end of Aug/early Sept. Lots of stuff in October, which is when I'm going back in time to post this. Enjoy.

2 quick thoughts

1. I have posted a blog post every day for half a year.*

2. I have 14 1/2# of pork shoulder slow-roasting in the oven.  The house smells awesome.

*Hopefully there won't be many more posts like this where I just phone it in.

Taking a zero day

When one is trying to blog daily for a year, there will be some days when there is nothing much to say.

So here's some cute pictures of sleeping children.

Enjoy.

Toddler Jokes

Robin and I, in the car on the way home from dropping of Erin.

R: Know what's funny, Mom?

A: What, sweetie?

R: Daddy says, "Blah, blah, blah, blah."  Haaa haha aahahha!

A: That is pretty funny!

R: Know what's funny, mom?

A: What, Peetie?

R: Those cows up there go (in high pitched voice), "Oooo, we gotta get the grass and then get in the car."  Haaa haa haaaaa ha haaaa!

The Postman (sometimes) Commeth

We had an issue with postal delivery recently which made me think we were subject to some good ol' fashioned postal theft. We do live on a busy street. . . Mystery one: Erin didn't receive a Valentine's card from my parents Mystery two: Erin and Robin didn't receive a message from Grandma and Grandpa from Hawaii. Mystery three: an old class-mate said she was sending a package ... which has never appeared. Concurrently, I'd read recently about some mail thefts in our area. So I started to lock the mailbox. Then the belated Valentin's arrived. The postal sorting mis-read the zip code. The Hawaiian message arrived at Grandpa and Grandma's house with postage due. The item from my old classmate is still not here, but I"m starting to think it has more to do with strangely coinciding system glitches and not nefarious neighbors pilfering our greeting cards.
