Rough start to November

This morning, at about 6:30, I awoke to find Robin having a seizure next to me.  She had spent the night in our bed because she seemed to have a tummy-ache, or something, and was crying on and off all night.

She was hot, hot, hot, and it only lasted maybe 1 or 2 minutes (though it seemed a LOT longer).  We tested out the Moraga-Orinda Fire District and they were here just a few minutes later.

She probably had a febrile seizure (see here or here), caused by fever.  Common in early childhood, and not linked to anything more serious, yet since no one actually verified that her temperature was high we will be doing a battery of neurological tests later this week.

Robin is running a low-grade fever today, and is napping, with me checking on her about every 5 minutes.

Poor kid.

The way this month is going, we'll have a LOT to be thankful for at the end.

Scary stuff. Thinking good thoughts for all of you--may the rest of the month be much less eventful!

Jeesh, guys. That sounds incredibly scary. We're all thinking of you and will be looking forward to the big, juicy turkey posts (with no fevers!) later in the month. XO

Holy s**t. That is terrifying. I have a friend whose kid had a febrile siezure in bed with her while she had a uti - her description was terrifying. I'm so sorry you all went through that. I hope all the tests go well this week! Sending hugs to you all.

o_O Holy Canoli! I'm so glad you think these are simply febrile seizures. Sending everyone a huge hug and calming vibes for your mama's heart.

That is some scary shit. Sounds like Robin is now uncomfortable a bit but napping and doing okay so that is very good. I'm sure she'll kick ass on those neurological tests so the question remains, how are you guys doing? Our thoughts are with you.

So scary but hopefully they are just febrile seizures and nothing to worry about long-term. Robin will probably feel tired so I hope you can both get some good cuddles and sleep in after your adventure. Sending good thoughts to all the McMillers.

Oh, Ash - how scary for you all! I hope it is not any more serious. I'm glad you were with her when this happened but what a horrible thing to witness. Sending all our good thoughts to Robin and the rest of the family.

Just checking in to see if there are any Robin updates and to say that we're thinking of you guys. I hope the testing was uneventful and that your minds are at ease. I can't even imagine how scary this process has been for you. Sending lots of love.

Thanks for the thoughts!

Robin's pediatrician said that she's sure it was a febrile seizure so that there's no need for other tests.

Robin has been her awesome self. Back to playing Humpy Dumpy and other adorable games.

Yay!
